The HIT Pro exams (Health Information Technology Professional) are meant to confirm that a candidate’s experience and skills will meet the nation’s need for HIT (health information technology) workers. Current estimates show a shortage of 50,000 workers in the HIT area. This is a critical shortage as the healthcare industry begins to transition to EHR (electronic health records). A smooth transition to EHR can only be accomplished with a properly trained workforce with a commitment to their profession and career. The HIT Pro exams allow candidate’s to demonstrate their competency in this evolving field.
NOTE: Other certification exams from additional certification organizations do exist. Since the HIT Pro exam is endorsed by ONC and AHIMA, we will be concentrating on the HIT Pro exam but will include other certifications as well.
